Sylvia Subapriya M.Sc, M.Phil, B.Ed, Ph. D is Professor in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition and Former Programme Coordinator, National Service Scheme, Youth Red Cross and Red Ribbon Club, Avinashilingam University for Women, Coimbatore.

Research in 1. Tribal Nutrition to 1. Ascertain the effect of Spirulina on the Nutritional Status of Tribal Children 2. Train trainers involved in the empowerment of tribal women, 3. Analyse nutrient content of tribal foods

  1. 2. Oral Leukoplakia Develop and ascertain the effect of vitamin and mineral rich nutraceutical capsule (vitamin A, E and trace mineral Selenium) for treatment of Oral Leukoplakia 2. Develop micronutrient and fibre rich recipes from Moringa olifera, Amaranthus tristis, Piper betle (herbs and green leafy vegetables common in Indian dietaries)
  2. 3. Sports Nutrition Formulate and ascertain the effect of ergogenic and nutritional food supplements, sports bars and drinks on the nutritional and sports performance of athletes and swimmers.

NSS Programme Coordinator of the University mobilising the upliftment of 26 adopted villages around Coimbatore through 26 programme officers and 2659 NSS volunteers each year, from 2014 to 2018. Received the Blood Donation Award from Ms. Archana Patnaik, District Collector, Coimbatore for record blood donation by NSS volunteers of the university; Prestigious Lead India 2020 recognition from Dr. APJ. Abdul Kalam, Former President of India for the NSS activity.

Countries visited: Malaysia, Muscat, Dubai, Switzerland, France, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, Thailand and Italy.
