Dr. Sanjay Bhardwaj
Dr. Sanjay Bhardwaj (Scientist – F) leads technology transfer and IP
management related activities at ARCI, Hyderabad (India). He obtained his
Ph.D. degree from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), Mumbai and
received the prestigious Emerald / European Foundation Management
Development (EFMD) Outstanding Doctoral Research Award. His doctoral work
addressed the theme of technology development, demonstration, transfer and
commercialization.
He possesses 22 years’ experience in different facets associated with the engineering and technology management. He has been involved in the forging of more than 100 collaborations / technology transfers for ARCI’s materials- based-technologies with start-ups/ established companies, academic institutions and other R & D centres.
He contributed towards the negotiation and finalization of Agreement components associated mainly with identification of appropriate partnership/engagement model; road-mapping on the milestones of development, demonstration and transfer of technology; IP ownership and filing ; dispute settlement ; IP licensing issues such as exclusivity vs. non-exclusivity, field of use/applications, geography, duration ; financial issues such as milestone-linked technology transfer fee and royalty; liabilities ; other techno- commercial and techno-legal aspects. He has prepared/guided more than 50 reports dealing with technology foresight, techno-commercial feasibility, technology commercialization and patent analysis.
He has authored 17 papers in peer-reviewed Journals and conference proceedings. His papers discuss useful
concepts for (i) assessing intellectual property / R & D / technology readiness, and (ii) linking R & D
capability with appropriate collaborative/commercialization models to enhance the socio-economic impact
of intellectual capital available with organizations. He presented 15 research papers in international/national
conferences and seminars. He delivered more than 120 Invited lectures/presentations during specialized
programmes for Faculty Development, Technology-based Entrepreneurship Development, Management
Development etc. He guided 8 postgraduate students for their professional projects.
He also led Project – Centre for Knowledge Management of Nanoscience & Technology (CKMNT) from
January 2015 to September 2016. CKMNT was implemented at ARCI, Hyderabad from the year 2009
under the aegis of National Nano Mission, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.

the leading journals in the world in the field of Operations Management. - 1 st prize in ‘Quiz on Intellectual Property’ conducted during ‘Workshop on Managing Innovation &
Intellectual Property’ at the 3rd International Conference on Management of Intellectual Property
and Strategy (MIPS) 2016 at Mumbai during July 2016 - Honorary Regional Secretary, Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers – Hyderabad Regional Centre

- National Technology Award 2016 from Shri Pranab Mukherjee, the then Hon’ble President of India on 11 th May 2016 for successful commercialization of indigenous technology, along with Resil Chemicals Private Limited (RCPL), Bangalore.
- Best Stall Award" for efforts in promotion of materials technologies for entrepreneurship, while independently managing ARCI stall at Exhibition entitled "INDUS EXPO 2003 ; organized by National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) and M/s Bowstring at Hyderabad (November 2003)
- Best Exhibitor Award in the category of “Creative Design” in 8 th Bangalore India Nano Conference (3 rd – 4 th March 2016)
